Hey guys happy saturday! The weather is not going so good here today and UNFORTANATLY I am catering a wedding tonight and I beleive it is OUTDOORS.. this should be interesting.
INSPIRATION FROM BLOGGING
I just wanted to comment about something last night that happeend that made me realize what a positive impact the blogging world has had on me. My boyfriend took me to a WONDERFUL place inthe hamptons for dinner, unfortanatly they did not have a menu online and when he called to ask what they have they told him “WE HAVE EVERYTHING.” Now I have been with my boyfriend for 6 YEARS so by now he def. knows how I am with eating. Upon arrival at the restuarant there was ZERO for me to eat on the menu. I did not want to ruin the night and the thoughtfulness of my boyfriend so I decided to follow suit on something I read on VEGGIE GIRLS BLOG.. she mentioned how her father (and herself at time) would let the chef know that she is a VEGAN, now I am a Lacto-ovo vegeterian, so I decided to step up for once and ask the WAITRESS (who was not very friendly) if they could make a vegetarian plate. She said they could and I have to say it was very good.. I did not get a pic but it was all mixed veggies with different sauces and wonderful FLAVOR. I was so proud of myself because usually I am INTIMADATED or EMBARRASSED to speak up… so thank you VEGGIE GIRL and BLOGGERS for giving me inspiration and being part of this wonderful COMMUNITY!
SATURDAY AM
Woke up and went to an awesome pilates class where she uses BANDs, RINGS and Little Blow up BALLS. I brought this with me to the gym, because I knew I would be doing some cardio post pilates class
BREAKFAST
Made another oatbran concotion that was PROTEIN LICIOUS!

Oatbran, soy milk, mango, bluberries, eggwhites, flax, coconut, slivered almonds and sprinkled with vanilla protein powder
PASSING THE TORCH
Quinoa was the Blogger Secret Ingredient I choose and I have decided to pass the responsibility of nexts week ingredient to HANGRY PANTS. I am passing it on to her because sheis the inpiration behind the name of the EVENT and because she was just as excitied as I was about the whole thing. HANGRY thanks for your support and I am excited to see what you choose this week!
*I AM GOING TO GO GET SOME WORK DONE… BUT I WOUDL LOVE TO HEAR YOUR GUYS RESPONSES TO HOW THE FOODIE BLOG WORLD HAS MADE CHANGES IN YOUR LIFE… HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

Christie, your words have touched me deeply; and I mean that. I’m so glad that you were able to have a nice meal after all, and are no longer intimidated to order a “special request” meal at restaurants – hooray!! Remember, YOU are the paying customer, so restaurants SHOULD cater to your individual needs!!
The foodie blog world has enabled me to make new friends, become more adventurous and curious about new foods/products, and just have more fun
Hooray for Hangry Pants being the next Blogger Secret Ingredient “challenger”!! Should be fun
Good luck with catering the outdoor wedding tonight – bring an umbrella!

This was a FAB post, Chris! Just awesome
I agree, Veggie = The shizzymcniz. She totally works magic on my daily do’s, helping me to realize that my lifestyle, IS approachable and that I’m not just a “picky” girl (which is DEF how I feel sometimes… Like it’s an annoyance to my family, or friends. Grr, hate that.).
I have been inspired to listen to my inner CHI and respect it and let it do its course. And def have been VERY happy to realize that I am not a WIERDO for LOOOVING my veggies! OR for LOVING Grocery Shopping! Or for LOVING Whole Foods! Or for LOVING new product sightings! And I have made so many wonderful friends, too!

Way to advocate for your food needs. They’re totally important.
I love your enthusiasm!

It annoys me that some restaurants are STILL not taking these things into consideration. I’m so glad you stood up for yourself.
I am also incensed at Borders on your behalf. I want to know what you think of those recipes! (Many vegetarian ones, by the way)

I am so glad you enjoyed your dinner and asked for something that you wanted. I had a similar experience at the wedding I was at last weekend. I would never have asked for a meatless dinner option if it weren’t for other bloggers’ examples of doing the same.
Ok, now I am so excited I get to pick the ingredient. I am such a dweeb that I was secretly hoping you would pick me, but I didn’t want to be a blog bully and ask. I’ll post the ingredient tomorrow.

i’m always nervous about ordering at a non-veg friendly place, even when i make it clear that i don’t eat butter/cheese/etc etc. but so far i really haven’t had a bad experience.
in response to your question about tofu chocolate pudding, i’ve had good results with this recipe from vegweb: http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=11924.0

That’s a great tip, actually. I used to be scared to ask for a special dish and just settle for a plain salad or something. After a few great experiences where I DID ask and got the most admired plate at the table, I, too, have gotten over my fear of special ordering.
I think having a food blog has made me more mindful of what I eat. I hesitate to eat too many packaged foods or to eat the same meals over and over again, because I know that it would be setting a bad example for my readers. I am so glad that we BOTH have become part of this community:)

Christie, thank you for this post! It was amazing to hear about your experience at the restaurant and the impact the blogging world has had on you. I can honestly say that the blogging world is responsible for me becoming more aware of healthier living in the first place. Without it, I would still be eating the crappiest, most processed foods and hating vegetables. Yes, there was a time I hated vegetables – can you even believe it?
Food blogging has also helped me make friends – and not just in the virtual sense. I can’t believe I’ve been fortunate enough to meet some blogging buddies in person and through email…it’s been an amazing experience and I feel the relationships will be lifelong!

The food blogging world is awesome. I have learned to be more creative with my meals, appreciate healthy food more, and be more adventurous with trying new foods.
Also, just in general, the food blogging community is just very supportive of one another. They are always there for you when you need support or advice and always have a kind word. I can honestly say that all the comments I receive always put a smile on my face and brighten my day
